International Dermpath Consult, located in the heart of Dubai, is the first private physician owned Dermatopathology laboratory, dedicated to dermatologist in the Gulf region.
Founded by Dr Reem El Bahtimi, American Board Certified Dermatopathologist, with over 15 year experience in the field of Dermatopathology.

Dr Reem has established a state of the art laboratory dedicated solely to the practice of dermatopathology with the most advanced instruments and technique to address the needs of Dermatologist. To best service our current and future referring physicians, Dr. Reem invested for the future by upgrading every facet of the practice. This includes advanced automation within the laboratory, which will eliminate manual error points, produce higher quality slides to read and improve turnaround time on routine cases. Dermpath Consult has a very advanced Laboratory Information system (LIS) which allows physicians to log in to order sample pick up, follow their patient results on line and receive the reports electronically in a timely fashion. The reports are designed to address all the dermatologist needs with images to support the pathological data. The LIS also keeps the patient notified with the progress of their result through SMS notifications. The system is highly automated to eliminate manual error. The laboratory offers very competitive prices and quick turn-around time.
Dermpath Consult also offers hands on training to Dermatology and pathology residents, fellows and practicing pathologist and gives weekly lectures in the field of dermatopathology.
Dermpath Consult is open to accept new referrals with its new facility and full capacity to process up to 240 specimens/ day.

Dr Reem El Bahtimi, is an American Board Certified pathologist in Dermatopathology, Clinical and Anatomic pathology. She has been practicing dermatopathology in the UAE for the last 15 years. Dr Reem is currently the Founder and Medical director of Dermpath Consult, a state of the art, full service laboratory dedicated to Dermatopathology. Dermpath Consult is a private standalone laboratory that caters to the needs of Dermatologist, Plastic surgeons, General surgeons, and General practitioners. Dr Reem runs a very busy dermatopathology service with referrals and second opinions from all over the UAE.
Dr Reem is also a Clinical Associate Staff, at Sunnybrook health science center, Toronto, where she is practicing Dermatopathology part time. Dr Reem is an Adjunct Assistant professor, Al Ain University (FMHS). She is involved in teaching Dermatology residents and Dermatopathology fellows. Dr Reem completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical pathology, followed by a fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Medical University of South Carolina, under the directorship of Dr John Maize.
Prior to Dermpath Consult, Dr Reem was the Medical Director of National Reference Laboratory (NRL), she was in charge of 3 laboratories in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Healthpoint hospital. In addition she was the director of Dermatopathology, running a very busy dermatopathology service at NRL. Prior to NRL, she had been practicing as Consultant pathologist and director of Dermatopathology at the American Hospital Dubai.
Dr Reem is the General Secretary of the pathology society 2013-2015, she previously served on the board 2006-2010. She is a Fellow of several societies including, College of American Pathologist, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Academy of Dermatopathology and Member of South Carolina Medical Association, Emirates Medical Association and UAE Supreme National Blood Transfusion.
Dr Reem is a CAP inspector, and sits on multiple committees including Blood Utilization Committee (Chair), Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, Higher Council of Blood Bank UAE, Infection Control Committee (ex-Chair), Appointment & credentialing committee and Liability committee. She is also a reviewer for The International Journal of Dermatology and is on the editorial board of the European Journal of Dermatopathology.

For tissue specimens:
Put tissue in formalin bottles, label bottles with the patient details and place them in a biohazard bag. Include our completed pathology request form in the bag with the bottle.
For slide consults:
Place slides in slide jackets, cushioned in bubble wrap.
Include the previous pathology report and our completed pathology request form with all clinical information.
Two samples are required or one 5-6 mm punch bisected. Place fresh tissue in the provided Michel’s media or normal saline and the second biopsy in formalin. Place bottle(s) in a biohazard bag with our completed pathology request form.
For molecular testing:
If molecular testing is needed, we will notify you in the dermatopathology report and explain the process on how to proceed.
